NORTHWICH Victoria plan to celebrate the game’s first national Non-League Day this weekend by offering discount entry to followers of Premier and Football League clubs.

Owner Jim Rushe hopes a bumper crowd will watch the hosts’ Evo-Stik Premier Division clash with Whitby Town as a result.

“We think Non-League Day is a brilliant idea,” he said.

“At Northwich we’re no different to any other grassroots club in thinking that the game at our level has something special to offer.

“That’s why this weekend is important to us.”

Non League Day is the brainchild of QPR fan James Doe, who wants to encourage fans of higher-ranked teams to watch their local non-league club.

There are no Premier League or Championship matches this weekend and England’s international against Bulgaria takes place on Friday.

As a result Vics will allow supporters with a season ticket at any Premier League or Football League club to watch their game for £5.

All accompanied U14s can enter for £1 too.
