Former England & Arsenal Forward Marieanne Spacey came to Northwich to host a training session for Northwich Vickies Girls U14 on Friday 12/07/2013.
Harvey Powell, Manager said “Northwich Vickies U14’s Girls are really grateful to Marieanne who agreed to give up her valuable time and experience to come and host a special guest training session for the Vics Girls U14’s team on a hot Friday evening in July. It is great for the girls to have someone like Marieanne to aspire to. Marieanne Spacey has won every domestic honour in England and has had a glittering international career, winning 91 England caps and scoring 28 goals before retiring aged 36.
In her final season with Arsenal she was the leading goal scorer and FA Players' Player of the Year, also winning a Sport Relief special achievement award
Throughout her Arsenal career Spacey had enjoyed great success as a deep–lying forward player, helping The Gunners win numerous trophies
It has been said "Marieanne was one of the most feared forwards in the game. She had good technique, ability on the ball, pace and power, and she was capable of scoring goals from all over the pitch — many of them from distance."
Marieanne hosted a great session, and her experience in coaching was for all to see, and the girls enjoyed their time spend with the former England International. Northwich Vickies are always looking out for new Girl players aged 6-16 years old. It doesn’t matter if you have never played before, it’s never too late to learn.
