The Northwich Victoria Supporters' Association (NVSA) held a meeting on Wednesday 18th November at Rudheath Club in Northwich. Present were first team manager Jim Gannon, Club captain Michael Clarke and defender Alex Byrne. Ian Egerton was in attendance representing our Junior Section of the Club. The meeting opened on a sombre note; with Club secretary Dave Thomas addressing supporters' about the unfortunate passing of our former chairman David Stone on Tuesday 17th November. Tributes for David from Vics' playing legends Malcolm O'Connor and Dave 'Rhino' Ryan were read out. Dave Thomas then gave details of the ticket and travel arrangments for the F.A Cup 2nd round tie AWAY to League Two Club Northampton Town on Saturday 5th December K.O 15:00. Ian Egerton then explained how the junior section management is currently progressing as a team and gave an update on the progress of the various age groups. He expressed his gratitude at the Football Club's continued support of the whole Junior section and said how much the differing age groups who had been in attendance as mascots at games this season had enjoyed their experience. NVSA secretary Peter Tonge them invited supporters' to join the membership or to renew. First team manager Jim Gannon gave an update on all first team playing affairs and took questions from the floor about the teams' magnificent progress so far this season and spoke warmly about the whole group of players' abilities and the fantastic team spirit that is shared amongst the whole group. Jim also spoke of his experiences of football management at other Clubs. Mike Clarke and Alex Byrne were then invited to speak of how life is for them at the Vics' with the captaincy of the team a particular subject raised by the supporters' and how Michael is enjoying the role as skipper' and also now being the longest-serving player at the Club. Alex Byrne raised a few laughs when asked about his 'exuberance' whenever a goal is scored - almost like a supporter himself; one quip being - ''a higher fence is needed at games he jumps up that high''. There was a raffle held of which was won by our chief scout Wayne Porter who kindly donated his prize back to the supporter's group, and the football card was won and the cash prize was donated to Ian Egerton towards the NVFC junior section. A very enjoyable meeting and we will be arranging another soon, with player appearances again and a Vics' legend to be confirmed.
